This is my 328 GTS from Ferrari. The car body is formed mostly from steel. The front hood is aluminum, the floorpan is fiberglass-sandwiched steel. Fiberglass is employed for the inner wheel arches, while strong ABS plastic is used for some louvers and valance panels. The adoption of galvanized steel to drastically retard corrosion is a key improvement for these cars. Tthe 328 chassis is an oval-section tube frame construction, offering race-car construction and rigidity, without a weight penalty. The exterior and structural design actually reduced the car's weight to an impressive 3165lbs for the GTS, substantially lower than their predecessors.
Even with its larger wheels and tires, the greater power and lower weight of the 328 rocketes it to 60 mph in well under six seconds, with a terminal speed of 150mph. The 328 is something of a rarity in being able to hit its redline in fifth gear, The 328's driver always knows the car's full potential is always available. Its has a 5 gear manual transmission.
